Privacy

In plain language. Last updated 14 October 2026.

Who we are

Padelo is run by Jaricon, a South African company. We are responsible for your information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Questions? Contact us.

What we keep

  • Your account: name, email address, and — only if you add them — a photo, WhatsApp number and playing preferences.
  • Your padel: the socials, leagues and tournaments you play in, scores, standings, your level, sign-ups and check-ins.
  • Payments: what you owe and whether it's paid. Card details are handled by the payment provider — we never see or store your card number.
  • Messages: messages you send to other players, chats in an event, and notes you keep for yourself (only you see your private notes).
  • How you use the app: when you sign in and out, when you open the app, which pages you view, and what kind of device and browser you use (for example "iPhone · Safari"). We don't keep your IP address for this.
  • Errors: if something breaks, a technical record of the error so we can fix it.

Why we keep it

  • To run leagues and socials: draws, scores, tables, levels, sign-ups and payments.
  • To tell you things you need to know: the draw, reminders, results and messages (by app notification, phone notification or email).
  • To keep the app working, secure and improving.

We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.

Who can see what

  • Players at your host see your name, photo, results and level. They can see your WhatsApp number only if you added it.
  • Your host's admins also see your sign-ups, check-ins and payments for their events.
  • Anyone with a public link (live scores, a public league or a host's public page) sees the names and scores on that page. Private and members-only leagues are not shown publicly.
  • Only the platform owner sees the usage log (when people sign in and use the app). Other admins can't.

Services we use

To run the app we use trusted providers, some of which store data outside South Africa under their own privacy and security safeguards: hosting (Vercel), the database and sign-in (Supabase), email (Resend), and — when you pay by card — the payment provider (Yoco or Paystack).

How long we keep it

  • Usage logs: 6 months. Error records: 90 days.
  • Your account, results and levels: until you remove your account.
  • Payment records: as long as the law requires for accounting.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit your name, photo, WhatsApp number and preferences any time on your profile.
  • Turn off phone notifications on the 🔔 page or in your phone's settings.
  • Remove your account yourself: profile → Remove my account. Your results stay in past tables without your name.
  • Ask to see the information we hold about you, or to correct it, by contacting us. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

We'll update this page if anything changes and show the new date at the top.
